Hannah Philips
As a trained horticulturist, Hannah combines knowledge of botany, aesthetics, economy and community to bring people, plants and places together. Her most transformative experience was working on the roof of the Vancouver Convention Centre, where she helped plant and seed native species in an urban setting. Having begun her career in the landscape labour and maintenance field, Hannah has observed firsthand plant growth behaviours over time, proper light, water, and maintenance requirements, and how to design for seasonal interest. She believes that the right choice and assemblage of plants can create certain feelings as you walk through a landscape, the importance of native plants for our ecosystems, how landscapes are always changing and that we can never have too much green space in our cities.
She loves observing the native plants within the forests of North Vancouver where she lives and spends time among the moss-covered trees for hikes, catching up with friends, or just exploring.
