leləḿ: Rezoning and Master Plan

Vancouver, British Columbia | 2012-Present

We worked closely with the Musqueam Nation to understand their cultural values to inform and inspire a master plan for a 22-acre site on the UBC University Endowment Lands. This mixed-use site will be one of the Musqueam Nation’s first sustainable communities, providing a village centre for the neighbourhood along with market, rental, and social housing.

The community is planned around a mature coniferous forest that is at the headlands of two significant creeks. The entire project surrounds a park and open space strategy that connects seamlessly with the neighbouring Endowment Lands.

We developed nine acres of park with trails and mature evergreen trees woven through the neighbourhood. We also created a new culvert as a gateway to the neighbourhood featuring wetlands dotted with bridges and islands, creating a strong connection to the Pacific Spirit Park across the street.
