Cypress Pop-up Village, Mountain Path and Trestle Bridge at Cypress Mountain

West Vancouver, British Columbia | 2017-2021

PWL designed the Mountain Path to wind through West Vancouver's scenic terrain, starting at the Cypress Pop-Up Village (also designed by PWL). Navigating complex topography, the path offers users a unique and immersive experience. We created detailed drawings and 3D models using innovative technology, ensuring a precise fit within the challenging landscape.

Our design philosophy centred around preserving the natural terrain, honouring the site's unique characteristics, and integrating native plants like Douglas fir, western red cedar, and salal to enhance biodiversity. The path meanders through lush forests and over clear streams, with water management systems subtly woven into the design to nourish the surrounding ecosystems.

When trees needed to be removed, our client's ownership of a kiln facility allowed us to repurpose them into the trestle bridge's wooden structure, emphasizing the reuse of locally harvested materials. Completed in December 2021, the trestle bridge is a testament to our dedication to creating spaces that inspire and rejuvenate.

The Mountain Path is more than just a trail; it’s a love letter to the natural world, inviting the community to explore and connect. Our client's dedication to the Mountain Path and trestle bridge to the District of West Vancouver ensures the community can enjoy this beautiful amenity for years to come.
