Landscape Architecture + Mixed-Use

Independent Living Seniors Residences

West Vancouver, Wesbrook Village at UBC and North Vancouver, BC | 2008-2013

We designed the landscape for a series of seniors communities in the lower mainland of British Columbia. Each designed for independent living, these homes give elderly residents the opportunity to remain in the neighbourhoods they’ve always called home, while getting a little extra help.

To make these communities feel like home, we created highly intensive courtyard spaces that allow for outdoor dining, gathering, and activity.

Most residences have greenhouses that enable residents to transplant their own gardens to their new homes.

Each residence reflects the character of the surrounding neighbourhood, with unique elements to create a sense of place. Putting an emphasis on barrier-free access, these are truly designed to be centres of happiness for people who have spent their lives in these neighbourhoods.
