Tom is fascinated by multiple scales of landscape architecture, from master planning to detailed design. Having studied urban design and planning at the University of Waterloo, followed by a Master of Landscape Architecture at the University of Toronto, he works at finding holistic solutions that ultimately benefit the public. Tom immigrated to Toronto from Hong Kong at the age of six and recalls noticing the stark contrast between the two cities—a high-density lifestyle versus pristine wilderness, with easily accessible local community parks at his doorstep. These elements were instrumental in developing his passion for landscape architecture, and how shaping the public realm is critical for the public’s well-being.
In his spare time, Tom passionately cheers for his hometown basketball team, the Toronto Raptors, or walking around with his camera. “With the love of photography, the natural landscapes of Vancouver are a playground for me to capture a lot of memorable photos, whether it be exploring the city or trips within the Pacific Northwest.”
