Sha Po Design Competition
New Territories, Hong Kong | 2011
We were invited to participate in a competition to create a conceptual landscape design for a new sustainable community in the New Territories, Hong Kong.
Among the site’s many innovative features we envisioned a “living machine” system for wastewater, bringing fresh water throughout the site. We took a scarce resource in this region and turned it into a value-add, and pushed the integration of sustainability to new heights by weaving the wastewater system into the public space.
We also integrated nature in unexpected places by designing skylights that allowed natural light to stream into the underground parking lot, so when you get out of your car you are instantly greeted by nature.
