Landscape Architecture + Parks + Open Space

House of Fairytales Competition

Odense, Denmark | 2013

For the new Hans Christian Andersen House of Fairytales in Denmark, we participated in a design challenge to create a fairytale garden.

We aimed to bring a landscape-oriented solution to emphasize the open space surrounding the museum and bring the literature of the landscape to life. We designed a green oasis in this very urban, high-density site.

Our design proposes planting a Fairytale Forest. We created a strong interconnection between the forest above and the museum below to unveil a landscape of wonderment and a unique green space for the city of Odense. Our vision includes a new courtyard at the northeast corner of the site, with exhibits about the poet’s life interspersed throughout.
