Landscape Architecture + Parks + Open Space
Hastings Mill Park
Vancouver, British Columbia | 2014-2016
When an old playground on a prime piece of oceanfront real estate reached its life capacity, we led a playful retrofit.
Inspired by Vancouver’s pioneer logging history and the existing Hastings Mill Store Museum on the site, we worked with Macdonald and Lawrence to create custom play equipment using stumps and logs. Large yellow cedar timbers create the framework for swings and a rope climbing structure.
A new sandbox and a playhouse modeled after the Mill Store offer spaces for children to stretch their imaginations. Local driftwood seating lets parents watch their kids and the stunning Point Grey view.
