Garden City Lands

Richmond, British Columbia | 2013-2017

Garden City Lands is a 136.5 acre (55 hectare), ecologically diverse site with a rich history located in the heart of Richmond, BC.

It is envisioned to become a legacy open space serving local residents and the Greater Vancouver Regional District as a transformative landscape. PWL was involved in all phases of the project, starting with ‘getting to know the land’ and ‘getting to know the community vision.’ The successful Ideas Fair led by Cityspaces set a vision for the site. PWL was the prime consultant for the Master Plan Phase and the Detailed Design and Implementation of Phase 1.

The site is envisioned to become a unique, multi-functional park and open space amenity with a restored bog as one of the signature features for the Richmond community and greater Metro Vancouver area. The resultant masterplan vision includes sustainable agricultural uses, park functions, play opportunities, imaginative public art approaches that celebrate the site’s history, and ecological conservation areas that all blend and support each other creating a new park paradigm.
