Back to the River Competition
London, Ontario | 2017
Our goal for this competition was to foster new connections to London’s heritage, and to breathe new life into its riverfront parks and open spaces.
Our approach aimed to “open the bank” of the river by looking at creative ways to improve pedestrian and recreational access through plazas, public art, a series of parks, and retail and residential frontages. We created opportunities to actively use the river’s edge throughout all four seasons by designing a series of ice rinks for the winter and moorage facilities with canoeing and kayaking for the summer.
We embraced the dynamic socio-economic conditions of the area and offered transitional solutions that could adapt to the city’s future needs.
